What is Myofunctional Therapy?
Myofunctional Therapy is a specialized program designed to correct the improper function of the tongue and facial muscles. This therapy strengthens these muscles by teaching individuals how to engage and rest them in the appropriate position, improving overall health and well-being.
The easiest way to describe Myofunctional Therapy is physical therapy from the neck up that can help address various conditions including:
- Facial skeletal growth
- Sleep-disordered breathing (including snoring and sleep apnea)
- Mouth breathing
- Facial pain/headaches
- Teeth grinding (bruxism)
- Temporomandibular joint dysfunction
- Neck and shoulder tension
- Speech problems
- Facial esthetics
- Incorrect swallowing patterns
- And more....
Who Can Benefit from Myofunctional Therapy?
Myo2 Health’s Myofunctional therapy programs offer effective and efficient results for patients experiencing conditions such as sleep concerns, TMJ issues, chronic headaches, tongue thrusts and mouth breathing. This therapy is suitable for both children and adults, providing a path to improved well-being and quality of life.

"Myofunctional therapy with Leslie literally changed my life! After years of restless sleep and persistent headaches, I finally experienced relief through our work together. Leslie is a kind, attentive, and knowledgeable practitioner. I looked forward to our sessions, when she presented new exercises tailored to continue my progress. After six months of myofunctional therapy, my headaches had reduced in severity and frequency. I started sleeping through the night more consistently, having fewer nightmares, and felt more well rested upon waking. Myofunctional therapy also helped me develop a deeper awareness of my breathing, swallowing, and posture. I highly recommend Leslie to anyone considering this work!"

"If you want to work with someone who is compassionate, dedicated and wise beyond her years look no further. Heidi’s best skill is to really see her patients not only on the surface but all the way to the body, mind and spirit. She inspired me to keep on working towards my goal even when life got in the way. She reminded me of the small gains that over time helped me to claim a lot of functions I had lost along the way, through stress, long days at work and avoiding much needed self care. Heidi has a great gift of helping us see our true selves with great ease, through knowledge, curiosity and self evaluation. I loved her flexibility, while still coaching me to the next level.

We initially met Leslie at our consult for a tongue tie release for my baby boy. We instantly felt like she not only had the knowledge, but also the compassion that was necessary for treating an infant and communicating with new parents! Everything was explained to us very clearly and thoroughly. After the release procedure, Leslie continued to be available for any questions or concerns we had which helped us have peace of mind in navigating this situation with a newborn. I highly recommend Leslie for her great patient care, communication, and knowledge."

"I had the pleasure of working with Heidi this year in our quest to support my own and my daughter's health after a stressful period of our lives. Her expertise and guidance not only benefited us greatly, but also had a profound impact on my own professional work with young families. Considering the architecture of breath, awareness of oral habits, posture and feeding figure so deeply into the early development of our microbiome, gut and immune health. I consider Heidi's work nothing less than transformative for myself, my daughter and all of those I work with."

"After years of struggling with chronic neck and shoulder pain, I also began to have pain in my jaw. Working with a chiropractor, I was finally beginning to see meaningful relief in my neck and shoulders but the jaw pain persisted. Heidi was recommended and I began working with her shortly thereafter. We met once in person and otherwise sessions were virtual and consisted of learning new stretches and techniques. After the first few months the jaw pain was less severe but I will admit, I was wondering if some amount of chronic pain was just my "new normal ". A few months later, I suddenly realized I had yawned and it didn't hurt. I continued working with Heidi through the program and my jaw is now almost completely pain free. I also gained 10mm to my mouth opening!"
